Introduction to Scratch Session
Scratch is a free, block-based visual programming language and online community developed by the Lifelong Kindergarten group at the MIT Media Lab. It is designed primarily as an educational tool, making programming concepts accessible and engaging for beginners, particularly children and young adults. Instead of writing lines of code, users create programs by dragging and dropping colorful graphical blocks that snap together like jigsaw puzzle pieces. Each block represents a specific command or function, such as movement, sound, or event handling.
Purposes:
Scratch is a visual programming language that allows students to create their own interactive stories, games and animations. As students design Scratch projects, they learn to think creatively, reason systematically, and work collaboratively.
